TISSUE DONATION

Transforming Loss into Legacy

In 2025, we partnered with the Cornea Foundation of South Africa, as many of our patients are eligible for tissue donation, including corneas, bone and skin. Patients up to the age of 90 can donate their corneas and give the invaluable gift of sight. This provides a meaningful opportunity for a patient’s legacy to live on and often brings great comfort to families during their grief.

What is tissue donation

If you would like more information about tissue donation or to discuss possible tissue donation, please contact GPFHV or the Cornea Foundation on 0810000066.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

I want to say a special thanks to the team at GP4 Home Visits who gave Bruce so much love, care, support and attention over these last few months. He was very fond of Dr Kylin. I met Dr Tayyaba on Saturday and she was also very gentle and caring. She held Bruce’s other hand yesterday as he slipped away. Although I’m heartbroken, I have a huge sense of relief that he has such special doctors looking after him, and that he’s no longer in pain or discomfort.
My brother and I would like to thank this very special team of people for caring for our mother (and for us) in such an exceptional way – above and beyond. Special thanks to Dr Tayyaba for being such an incredible support – we going to miss you and your sweet smile! And also special thank you to Sister Lee for preparing us so kindly with what to expect, and for making sure that our mom was so calm and pain free. May her dear soul find rest and may we all only know of joys.
Hi Amone I’m sure by now you would have heard the passing of Richard this morning it was very sad please make sure Dr Laher knows and I’m sure Dr Ed is already involved. Her patience was impeccable and the time spent with Richard on Friday. My sincere appreciation to everyone on the team for all the support and understanding over these past few weeks. As we move on during this difficult period I will always be indebted To your practice on the outstanding job you all do to those you serve. Much appreciated
Dear GP for Home team, especially Sheryl. I want to thank you all for your love and concern. For your personal and work time shared with us. For your professionalism, support, and help in all areas over this journey we have been through together. For not only caring for Gran but for caring for our family. The service and love you all provide is so special and we are so grateful for it. Thank you to every one of you and the part you have played in this journey. Thank you for giving your all to each of your patients. The dignity and empathy shown through this process is truly remarkable. Thank you.
Dear Sister Sheryl and Doctors, It is with great sadness that I advise Fred Brandt died on 27th November 2023. Fred and I were happily married for 65 years and as you well know he never fully recovered from ICU Sycosis after being discharged from Linksfield Hospital in mid-July 2023. His last months were very distressing and sad and he died finally at home with me, his loving family, private care ladies and Hospice on call.
Dear Barbara Sincere thanks for your condolences and for holding us in your thoughts. We are eternally grateful for the support we received from the practice, enabling Charlotte to leave us so peacefully and without pain. May your superb work long continue. Blessings
Hi Amonè. This is Lynne. I thought I might tell you that my father passed away on Tuesday morning. It took us by surprise as he was improving. At least he had no pain and his dream came true that he passes soon. I’d like to thank you all in your wonderful team for the incrediblesupport that we felt you all gave us. It was very very comforting to know we had you. Everybody in your team was so compassionate and supportive. You do wonderful work and we really appreciate what you did for us. Thank you once again.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my gratitude and appreciation, particularly to Dr Ed for his kindness, care and compassion, towards myself and my father. I did have the privilege to speak to Dr Ed telephonically, and he was absolutely amazing. Thank you Dr Ed for taking such good care of him and for continuously exploring other avenues to try to help him. We’ll be forever grateful. Kind regards

Thank you to the most amazing team of doctors, sisters and councillors. Nothing was ever too much trouble for you and you were all so caring and gentle with my dear sister. You were there to guide us every step of the way. We are filled with gratitude. I know that my beautiful sister, best friend and rock is now in a better place.
Hi Team. I just want to thank you all for all the wonderful support and love you all extended to us both through John’s journey. I miss him more than I ever thought possible. All the messages of condolence have brought home just how much he was loved by so many. I could never have managed without the outstanding support from you all and I love you all so much
Dr Ed, from our first interaction when we shared June’s dire plight with you, to the very end, you pulled this all together in such a dignified and gracious way. We are indebted to you, for going above and beyond to step “into” our family (time and again after hours and on weekends, often foregoing your own personal boundaries and space) and all for a bunch of complete strangers?! What an absolutely selfless and generous human you are. The bunny I gave you on Easter morning seems inadequate now – but was quite symbolic, given that you took hours to come through, on a family holiday no less, to ensure mom’s comfort and dignity, and to painstakingly go through every little detail. You have a beautiful soul Dr Ed.
The senior nursing team were no less amazing, and I do not believe there is one single person in the family who is not appreciative of the selfless dedication, compassion and love with which you all go about your business. Lisa, on the instances that you came through, it became clearly apparent that you have an absolute gift for not only connecting with people, but restoring dignity, which you did first and foremost for June at such a crucial point on her life journey too. Thank you not only for what you did for June, but particularly for Ath and I, with each and every word of advice, acknowledgement and encouragement.
To the admin staff (who we never personally met, but spoke to often) – you all too are simply “wow” and the fact that everything happened so seamlessly and effectively in the background, bears testament to the vital role that every single person in the practice plays. Working together with the docs and the nurses, everything happened as if by magic…motivation letters got typed, medical aid interactions happened, scripts magically appeared, meds were magically ordered and delivered, etc – you all made the daunting task, a little less difficult, scary and traumatic. Thank you all for your service and for doing what you do, so well.
Theresa, thank you for your guidance, reassurance and simply the love you showed us on Sunday morning. Thank you for reassuring us that June was in no way distressed or in pain. Thank you for explaining the practicalities, advising us what to look out for and preparing us, so we could focus on June, on her last day with us. Ath and I are personally immensely grateful to you, for the gift you gave us, allowing us to simply just “be” with June, to reassure her that she was not alone, to pray with her, to reminisce with her (we know she could hear us!), to hold her and comfort her throughout the day, right to her last beautiful breath.
Dear doctors, sisters and admin staff. On behalf of our family, we would like to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to each of you cared for Ouma E. We are deeply thankful for your dedication, professionalism and your commitment to providing the best possible care, your clear communication, and your kindness during such a difficult time did not go unnoticed. Knowing that Ouma E was treated with dignity, respect and genuine concern brought u comfort and reassurance when we needed it most. While words cannot fully express our appreciation, please know your efforts made a meaningful difference to our family. We are truly grateful for the care you provided and for the humanity you showed throughout this journey. Thank you for the vital work you do and for the compassion you extend to patients and families during life's most challenging moments. With sincere appreciation.
Dear Dr Schutze and team
On this day, every year, i salute you all with love and gratitude :
It was this very week of Christmas to New Year 2022, that my husband Dave Barretto turned to critical, and I became entirely dependent on the expertise and kindness of you and your excellent team... until he left us, just before midnight of the old year fading and the crackers popping in the streets.
These sad memories will now always hang over my year end seasons... but your caring work, dedication and compassion soothes it all.
May you all be blessed - I honour those who will be standing by the last earthly beds of patients today, when others celebrate and party in, 2026. Yours is indeed a noble profession and a calling.
Blessings for 2026 and the challenges that may lie ahead.
With my eternal gratitude to you all.
